SOTE plays RUSH | |
---|---|
During the after party of the Chosen CD presentation, SOTE played a tribute to their three Canadian heroes, classic songs as well as lesser known jewels from Rush, spanning the Caress of Steel to Counterparts period. This was received really well and SOTE decided to continue doing these sets on request, either with or without original SOTE songs. Booking info: peter@sote.nl |

Introduction to SOTE | ||||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
We are SOTE, which is an acronym for 'Songs of the Exile', a progressive-rock power-trio from The Netherlands. We think we are progressive in the literal sense of the word. The result can be found in our compositions by the varied mix of hard and soft, wide and close, dense and open, small and bombastic, in which the song and melody play the leading part. The use of 'extended range' instruments, like baritone-guitar, 6 string bass-guitar and Stick, with added guitar synths and pedal synths, enriches the sound canvas to far outside that of a regular guitar-oriented rock band. Symphonic hard-rock/progressive metal/vocal power-fusion, whatever; SOTE is hard to categorize, and we'd like to keep it that way. SOTE was founded as a power-trio in 1993 and main influences at the time were coming from the ultimate Canadian power-trio Rush. Later on more influences could be found in our music, like Allan Holdsworth, Yes, Saga... Current line-up:

Menno de Vries leaves the band | |
---|---|
Unfortunately Menno has had to leave the band again, after he recorded some amazing drum parts on 'Chosen'. | |
But don't worry, he has been replaced by an amazing young talent Mark van der Werf. Check him out at our CD-release gig at the Parktheater in Alphen aan de Rijn, where he will not only bring Menno's parts to a higher level, but also play the incredible parts of Neil Peart during our after-party RUSH tribute set. |
